Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist supporting the needs of young learners. This full-time, onsite opportunity spans the academic year from August 3 through May 21 and focuses on delivering essential vision-related services within a supportive school environment. The assignment covers multiple school sites near Chandler, AZ, offering variety and impact throughout your workday.

Your expertise will empower students to develop independence, navigating their environments safely and confidently. Engage collaboratively with educational teams and families to create effective learning plans tailored to each student’s unique abilities and goals.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Completion of a certified Orientation & Mobility (O&M) program
• Current Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) credential
• Standard Arizona O&M Endorsement
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Experience working with school-aged children preferred
• Commitment to providing onsite services (remote work not accepted)
• Strong communication, organizational, and assessment skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive orientation and mobility assessments
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized instruction in accordance with student IEPs
• Collaborate regularly with special education teams, administrators, and families
• Provide education and support on safe travel techniques in schools and the surrounding community
• Maintain detailed records of progress and services delivered
• Offer consultation and adaptive strategies to school staff as needed
