Histology Laboratory Assistant

Lab Assistant I

The person in this position is a Lab Assistant I who accurately performs various functions in the histology lab.

Essential functions include:

• Coordinating surgical case paperwork and slides for delivery to pathologists.
• Managing SSR orders.
• Loading and removing slides from stainers.
• Retrieving needed slides and blocks from files.
• Packaging slides and blocks for return to outside facilities.
• Filing blocks and slides.
• Printing slide labels.
• Performing lab cleaning and equipment maintenance.
• Exercising all laboratory safety precautions and adhering to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
• Performing all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
• Being familiar with and abiding by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

Education and licensure:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Requirements:

• Minimum of one year of previous health care environment job-related experience is preferred.
