This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.We are seeking a Battery/Cell Testing Engineer to plan, execute, and analyze battery tests at the cell, module, and pack levels. This role is highly hands-on and data-driven, focusing on performance validation, safety testing, and reliability of battery systems throughout development and production phases.Special Mentions:Relocation providedTravel expected up to 10% of the timeResponsibilities include but are not limited to:Develop, plan and execute Li-ion cell testing using cell cycling equipment, thermal chambers, specialized temperature control fixtures and circulatorsWrite test plans, propose design of experiment, document test setup and instrumentation, collect, analyze and summarize results in test reportsSupport the design, build and assembly of test fixtures for battery testingPerform cell level non-destructive analytical techniques to analyze mechanisms of energy and power loss in lithium-ion cellsParticipate in development of internal lab processes and implement test lab best practicesImplement validation method to ensure the highest possible data integrity from the lab and support data management system expansionIdentify and troubleshoot test, equipment and setup as neededExecute environmental testing including thermal cycling, vibration, shock, and EMI/EMCLead test failure investigations and root cause analysisParticipate in Design Reviews & Requirement TraceabilityTrain and mentor technicians in the operation and upkeep of test equipment and lab processesBe a member of a cross functional product development team to help determine the ideal cell chemistry and design for Blue Origin productsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, or equivalent experienceFamiliarity with Lithium-based battery technologies and their degradation mechanismsExperience working with cell cycling hardware (Arbin, Neware, etc.)Experience with lab test equipment (Power Supply, DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.)Experience with software tools such as LabView, JIRA, Matlab, Python, SQL, or similar toolsDirect hands-on experience developing and executing test plans for complex electronics systemsFamiliarity with industry-standard electrical test equipment and proceduresAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationshipsPreferred Qualifications:Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related fieldExperience with battery or cell testing equipment (e.g., Arbin or similar systems)Experience with fault tree analysis and Design Failure Mode and Effects (DFMEA) analysis for HV systemsExperience performing modeling and simulation of electrical and/or electrochemical systemsExperience conducting tests in challenging environmentsExperience with R&D or systems integration environmentsHV battery experienceFamiliarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to battery systems in aerospace applicationsCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
