Electrical Systems Technician

Job Description

Duties

• You will perform work involved in routine disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
• You will select tools and test equipment, plan work sequence, and decide which methods and techniques to follow in completing work assignments.
• You will perform limited functional checks on existing and newly installed aircraft electrical systems, equipment, and wiring and cables with standard and specialized tooling and equipment.
• You will assist in troubleshooting and performing operational checks on systems and equipment of moderate and higher levels of complexity.
• You will perform routine and repetitive repair and overhaul tasks on aircraft electrical systems, components, and assemblies found in fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

Requirements

• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain a required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• Physical exertion requires moderate lifting and carrying of objects up to 40lbs.
• Vision must meet near vision correctable at 14" to Jaeger 2, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Performing disassembly, assembly, testing, overhauling, modifying and repairing common aircraft electrical items (i.e., flight control, fire detection, instrumentation, power control, fuel quantities, etc.); 2) Fabricating, testing, troubleshooting, modifying and repairing aircraft electrical cables; 3) Providing working knowledge of AC and DC power supplies and a basic understanding of aircraft electrical systems and their interrelationships; 4) Reading and understanding blueprints, job orders, technical manuals, shop sketches and schematic diagrams; 5) Selecting tools and determining methods and techniques to carry out assignments. Additional information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This position requires rotating shift work.
