As the Controller, you will be responsible for managing all accounting operations, preparing and ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining compliance with regulations, + providing insightful financial reporting to support decision-making. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, implementing best practices, + working closely with leadership to maintain the financial health of the company. Responsibilities Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cost accounting. Maintain accurate and timely financial records in compliance with GAAP and company policies. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries. Develop, monitor, and manage annual budgets and long-term financial plans in partnership with operational and executive leadership. Oversee and optimize accounting systems and related integrations. Partner with manufacturing operations to monitor cost accounting processes, analyze variances, and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost control. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial, tax, and reporting requirements. Support external audits and provide required documentation and analysis. Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and ensure timely customer, vendor, and payroll payments. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and support accurate financial reporting. Provide financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives. Collaborate with executive leadership to provide recommendations regarding financial performance and business operations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting. Experience with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across departments. High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail. Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks. Knowledge, Skills + Attitudes Technical skills: Technical skills are essential for this role to be able to prepare financial statements, budgets + reports. The Controller must have knowledge of the systems + accounting software that they will use to complete a project. Communication skills: Communication skills are fundamental for this role to effectively communicate with the team, collaborate with other departments + ensure smooth operations. Ability to articulate questions, provide updates + discuss project details with team members. They need strong written + verbal communication skills for creating reports, documentation, and to facilitate meetings. Attention to detail: The Controller needs sharp attention to detail to ensure a high level of accuracy in financial record-keeping. This attention to detail enables them to be meticulous in conducting regular reconciliations + audits. They need to be vigilant in ensuring compliance with accounting standards + policies. Problem-solving skills: This position will use strong analytic skills to proactively identify + resolve issues. They need the ability to work collaboratively with others, resolving any issues that arise + contributing to a positive team environment. Mechanical aptitude: As the Controller, you will need the capacity to interpret the impact of production activities on financial outcomes. You need to have the ability to learn + adapt to new technologies.
