Staff Attorney

Job Summary: The Staff Attorney reports to the President of the Company and performs all legal tasks requested in furtherance of the Company’s business. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare legal documents as needed including purchase agreements, notes, mortgages, operating agreements, resolutions, joint venture agreements, condominium documents, easements, leases, employment agreements, severance agreements, and settlement agreements. Assists in managing outside counsel and serves as a gatekeeper for development staff seeking to consult outside counsel. Monitors efficiency of outside counsel and ensures productive use of outside counsel by development and other staff. Documents agreements with architects, engineers, and other outside design professionals. Produces contracts for Woda Construction, Inc., and reviews contracts with any outside architects. Becomes familiar with state QAP’s and acts a resource to development staff in connection with tax credit applications and related matters. Assists with 504, Fair Housing, evictions, and similar landlord-tenant matters as requested and needed by Corporate Counsel and outside counsel. Assists development staff and pre-construction staff with environmental, land use, zoning, and similar issues. Reviews title commitments and produces title review letters. Assists acquisition team on due diligence and closings. Becomes familiar with new development debt and equity documents and assists company executives and outside counsel as needed. Education and Experience: Evidence of academic achievement at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Member of a state bar or eligible to become a member of a state bar required. Real estate, credits, and housing experience preferred. Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurance. Must work an in office schedule out of our Columbus Ohio office.
