Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Tele Intermediate Stepdown Duration: 15 weeks Shift: Night Shifts Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active Illinois RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Understanding of drug-free workplace policies - Ability to provide a negative drug screen for all panels Description: The Tele Intermediate Stepdown unit has a total of 26 beds. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:4 or 1:5. The unit utilizes EPIC for electronic medical records. Charge nurses take on patient assignments. Nursing assistants are available, with a ratio of 1:9. Night shift hours run from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The weekend requirement includes working every other weekend. Holiday shifts are also required every other holiday. The unit accommodates various patient diagnoses, including CHF and COVID pneumonia. Support from a hospitalist is available during the day, transitioning to an advanced practice nurse and e-hospitalist at night. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy services operate around the clock. Traveling nurses may be required to float to other units. Orientation includes one hospital orientation shift and two unit orientation shifts, one being day and the other night. Nurses will be required to wear their own scrubs, with no specific color mandated. Common treatments include Cardizem, Lasix, and nitroglycerin, while no ventilators are present in the unit. The unit treats various conditions, such as Afib with RVR and syncope. All nurses must adhere to the established cancellation policy.
