Certified Peer Support Professional CCBHC

Summary of Position The Certified Peer Crisis Specialist is someone who has verification of certification from the state and self‑identifies as a voice of recovery with lived mental health and/or addiction experience or qualifies as an individual who has supported an immediate family member through recovery. The role expects deployment with a team to individuals in the community who are experiencing a mental health and/or addiction crisis, assisting clients with support and de‑escalation, helping them articulate recovery goals, identify barriers, and develop recovery strengths. The specialist will teach problem‑solving skills, combat negative self‑talk, build social supports, advocate for clients, and coordinate care as directed by the clinical team. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Deploy to individuals in their community during a mental health or substance use crisis Verbalize an understanding of recovery and articulate it to clients and staff Assist clients in identifying personal strengths, recovery skills, and program support or barriers Facilitate evidence‑based protocols, safety plans, screens, and risk assessments as trained Participate in interdisciplinary meetings with Centerstone programs and community partners Coordinate crisis intervention, referral to inpatient, residential or outpatient treatment, and transportation to appointments and resources Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent communication skills and ability to meet certification communication requirements Basic computer literacy Qualifications Education Level – Must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and meet state certification requirements for lived experience with mental illness, substance use, or gambling disorder. Experience – Minimum one year of recovery; experience within the criminal justice system preferred. Certification & Licensure – Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and state certification. Personal Attributes – Willing to share personal recovery story and assist clients in setting realistic recovery goals. Physical Requirements Frequencies: Standing – 20%, Sitting – 80%, Squatting – occasional, Driving – occasional, Kneeling – occasional, Lifting – occasional, Bending – occasional.
