Clinical Services Manager

The Nurse Manager is a leadership position with direct and indirect patient care responsibilities. This position, working in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and the Health Center Administrator, is expected to develop systems of care that foster a successful clinical care team environment to ensure optimal outcomes for patients' health. The primary responsibility of this position is directing the daily clinical support staff activities towards the provision of safe, high quality, and efficient primary care to a patient population diverse in age, health status, and socio-economic level. Secondary responsibilities include providing direct nursing care to patients. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, nursing experience in directing primary care support staff, and an excellent knowledge base of family medicine primary care nursing including pediatrics and obstetrics and gynecology.

Minimal qualifications include a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, must be a Registered Nurse with at least two years of leadership experience or a Licensed Practical Nurse with at least three years of leadership experience. Florida license, BLS certification, and computer literacy are also required. Prior clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities and performance expectations include being familiar with CFHC's program philosophies, goals and objectives, complying with all CFHC's policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations. This also includes hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining clinical staff, understanding the requirements of CFHC's Exposure Control Plan, personally utilizing universal precautions when practicing in a clinical setting, participating in staff outreach and off-site health care programs, reporting pertinent information or situations that impact patient care or CFHC liability, attending and participating in mandatory CFHC meetings, demonstrating ability to work cooperatively with other members of the clinical team, maintaining a neat and professional appearance at all times, and carrying out any other activities deemed appropriate by the DON, CMO, or CEO.

Primary duties include overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of the Medical, Dental, OB/GYN, Lab, Endo, and Podiatry areas, supervising a team of LPNs, CMAs, dental assistants, dental hygienists, and lab staff, ensuring high-quality patient care is delivered to all patients, working well with HCA to maintain smooth operations and patient satisfaction, ensuring that the practice of nursing within CFHC is of the highest possible quality, assigning clinical and administrative duties to clinical support staff, coordinating patient flow, determining clinical support staffing requirements, performing periodic assessments to determine deficiencies in clinical staff performance, conducting clinical support staff meetings, evaluating the educational needs of the clinical support staff, conducting quarterly proficiency testing and annual evaluations of clinical support staff, keeping DON informed of all significant nursing issues, reviewing resumes and credentials of clinical support staff applicants, coordinating orientation and training of new clinical support staff employees, performing monthly Nurse Manager Center Audits, coordinating nursing assignments for interning students, and carrying out other duties as assigned by the DON or CMO.

Secondary duties include functioning as a professional nurse member of the health team, making nursing assessments related to the health status of the patient and triaging them appropriately, providing nursing coverage in clinic emergency shortage situations, accurately functioning and performing all duties of nursing personnel as determined by the needs of the center, participating in all code situations, and serving as a mentor for interning students.

Physical requirements include spending 80% or more time standing/walking, independently mobile, ability to lift weight equivalents to what would be required when occasionally assisting and positioning patients, repositioning equipment and lifting supplies, and ability to adapt and function in varying environments of workload, patient acuity, worksites, and work shifts.
