Trust & Estates Attorney (New York City Metropolitan Area)

The Opportunity

Our client is building a rapidly growing national legal platform within a broader professional services organization serving an extensive existing client base of entrepreneurs, privately held businesses, high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families, and family offices.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial Trusts & Estates Attorney who has demonstrated the ability to develop client relationships and wants a platform that can help accelerate the growth of their practice.

This is not a traditional lateral law firm opportunity.

The organization has established capabilities across tax, accounting, wealth, family office, transaction advisory, consulting, and other professional services. This creates meaningful opportunities for collaboration, cross-selling, and internal referrals. Trusts & Estates and Private Client services represent a significant area of opportunity within the organization's existing relationships.

For the right attorney, the opportunity is to combine an existing client following and personal business development with a substantial internal referral network to build a significantly larger practice.

The opportunity also includes equity participation in the broader organization.

What You'll Do

The attorney will advise individuals, families, entrepreneurs, business owners, and family offices on sophisticated Trusts & Estates and Private Client matters, including:

• Estate planning and wealth transfer strategies
• Trust planning and administration
• Estate and gift planning
• Business succession and generational wealth transfer
• Planning for owners of privately held businesses
• Wills, trusts, and related estate planning structures
• Charitable and legacy planning
• Related family office and private client matters

Beyond client delivery, this individual will have the opportunity to build a larger practice by developing relationships across the organization's existing client base and collaborating with professionals in tax, wealth management, family office, accounting, transaction advisory, and other areas.

Who We're Looking For

We are particularly interested in attorneys who are entrepreneurial, relationship-driven, and motivated to build.

The successful candidate will likely have:

• Meaningful experience practicing in Trusts & Estates and Estate Planning
• Strong relationships with individuals, families, entrepreneurs, business owners, and/or family offices
• A demonstrated ability to originate business and develop client relationships
• An existing client following or portable book of business
• An interest in substantially growing their practice
• The ability to identify broader needs within client relationships and collaborate across disciplines
• A desire to help build a growing practice rather than simply join an established law firm
• J.D. and active bar membership in the applicable jurisdiction

Experience in complementary areas such as Private Client, Family Office, Tax, Business Succession, Wealth Planning, or Charitable Planning is highly valued, provided Trusts & Estates remains a core component of the attorney's practice.
