The Role Field Engineer I in Richmond, VA. Field‑based position covering customers throughout Richmond to Fredericksburg, VA. Company car, gas card, cell phone, laptop provided; vehicle maintenance covered. Responsibilities Install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify electromechanical equipment in the field; troubleshoot technical problems and system issues. Determine technical solutions in accordance with product and customer specifications and recommend actions to company or customer representatives. Conduct technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements based on specific customer requirements. Assess customer needs and recommend solutions considering product specifications. Conduct technical training and product briefings with customers, vendors and company representatives; act as local on‑site representative to the customer's organization. Manage all territory responsibilities, including preventive maintenance and upgrades (software & hardware); provide service support in hospital/clinic laboratory environments. Manage parts, online training, and administrative expense reporting. Perform other work‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate's degree in Electronics or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent four years of military or field service experience. Minimum four years of experience installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying electromechanical equipment. Team player; self‑motivated and interacts appropriately with peers, sales counterparts, and customers. Able to organize and express ideas clearly, verbally and in writing. Possess technical knowledge in electromechanical, chemistry, computer, or related disciplines; effectively perform required job functions. Manage workload within time constraints. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Valid driver’s license. Extended hours may be required. Travel: Ability to travel 50–75% overnight to Rochester, NY early in training; travel up to 75% within territory post‑training, with occasional overnight trips (1–2 nights per week). External: Customers (Laboratory Managers, Supervisors). Work Environment Typical work hours with overtime; field‑based with travel. Must work autonomously in a home office environment; maintain a valid driver’s license and suitable automobile. Physical Demands Requires vision, use of hands, standing, walking, bending, reaching. Must travel up to 75% and lift up to 75 lbs. Benefits Salary range: $65,000 – $85,000 (bonus eligible).
