Generator Field Technician / Mechanic

Overview Foley Equipment is the authorized Caterpillar dealer in Kansas and NW Missouri. The EPG Field Technician is primarily responsible for troubleshooting, servicing and repairing power generation related systems, generators, engines, transfer switches, UPS and switchgear systems, as well as fuel polishing and load bank testing systems at customer work sites. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Base Rate: $29.43 - $65.28 / hour. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, make recommendations for repairs, and perform critical repairs and adjustments. Work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and be available for after-hours calls as needed. Perform required DOT inspections to ensure service truck is in proper, safe working order. Conduct generator pre-start and start-ups in accordance with the manufacturer checklist. Use resistive load bank equipment for testing and repair of generators. Travel for training and/or to assist at other locations. Physical & Working Requirements Safely and repeatedly lift components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance. Safely lift, carry, and lower components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance. Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials. Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights. Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods. Safely operating tools and equipment. Qualifications Knowledge of power generator applications and repairs. General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments. Ability to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, schematics, line diagrams and other related publications. Class A CDL or Class B CDL required or ability to obtain CDL. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry (specifically with power generation equipment). Stable work history. Class A CDL or Class B CDL. Ability to foster positive relationships internally and externally.
