Job Title: Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery

Location: Hackensack, NJ
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks

• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Required
• On-Call: None

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery (L&D) to join a busy maternal care unit. The ideal candidate will have strong Labor & Delivery experience and be committed to delivering exceptional care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum process. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, strong fetal monitoring skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for laboring and postpartum patients.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed.
• Assist physicians and certified nurse midwives during labor, delivery, and emergency obstetric procedures.
• Provide patient education regarding labor, delivery, recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
• Recognize and respond promptly to maternal or fetal emergencies.
• Accurately document patient care and clinical interventions using the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and other healthcare professionals to provide safe, patient-centered care.
• Maintain compliance with evidence-based nursing practices and hospital policies.

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience required.
• Previous acute care hospital experience in Labor & Delivery.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system preferred.

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) License or Multistate Compact RN License
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – AHA

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
• Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring or Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification

• 36-hour work week (3 x 12-hour night shifts).
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required.
• No routine on-call requirement.
• Candidates with advanced fetal monitoring certifications and strong Labor & Delivery experience are highly preferred.
