The Position The Garage Door Installation Technician works independently throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area, installing garage doors and related equipment at residential and commercial properties. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Because service and installation work depend on customer demand and project requirements, technicians may occasionally work after 5:00 p.m. or a half day on Saturday. Schedule changes will be communicated as reasonably practicable. You will be trusted to represent Ideal Garage Doors inside customers’ homes, at their businesses, on the road, and in the community. You must be technically capable, safety-minded, professional in appearance and conduct, and comfortable building rapport with people you have just met. This is not a traditional sales position. You will not be expected to pressure customers or sell them something they do not need. You will be expected to recognize problems, communicate honestly, explain appropriate solutions, and create an experience customers feel good recommending to others. The position also offers opportunities to help grow the Ideal Garage Doors brand through community involvement, relationship-building, and business networking. What You’ll Do Installation and Field ServiceDrive independently to residential and commercial job sites.Install garage doors, openers, hardware, and related components according to company and manufacturer standards.Evaluate garage-door systems and identify necessary repairs, replacements, and safety concerns.Complete work correctly, safely, neatly, and efficiently.Test completed installations and verify that systems operate properly.Maintain an orderly work area and leave each customer’s property clean.Protect customer property, company equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles.Complete required job records, photographs, invoices, and other documentation accurately and promptly.Follow company safety procedures and applicable job-site requirements.Maintain reasonable flexibility for occasional extended days and Saturday assignments based on customer demand. Customer Education and ServiceGreet customers warmly and make a strong, professional first impression.Listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions to understand the customer’s concerns.Explain problems and available options in clear, everyday language.Provide honest recommendations without pressure, manipulation, or unnecessary upselling.Help customers understand how to operate and maintain their garage-door systems safely.Communicate delays, unexpected conditions, or changes promptly.Work toward complete customer satisfaction and resolve concerns professionally.Create the kind of experience that earns repeat business, five-star reviews, and referrals. Business Development and Community Outreach Business-development experience is helpful but not required. However, every technician is expected to contribute appropriately to the company’s reputation and growth. Opportunities and responsibilities may include:Building positive relationships with customers, property managers, contractors, insurance agencies, real estate professionals, and other potential referral partners.Developing relationships with industry influencers and centers of influence.Representing Ideal Garage Doors at community events, business expos, networking meetings, and referral groups such as BNI.Giving brief company introductions or presentations when assigned.Following up on appropriate referral or partnership opportunities.Participating in volunteer or community-service projects supported by the company.Identifying opportunities to educate the public about garage-door maintenance and safety.Assisting with social-media posts, photographs, videos, or educational content when appropriate.Helping the company grow through trust, strong relationships, excellent service, and a consistently professional reputation. Required QualificationsValid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.Ability to travel independently throughout the assigned service area.Mechanical aptitude and the ability to use hand and power tools safely.Ability to follow installation instructions, safety requirements, and company procedures.Ability to communicate professionally with residential and commercial customers.Dependable attendance and punctuality.Availability to work Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays based on customer demand.Ability to work independently, manage time, and complete assigned jobs.Ability to perform the physical duties of garage-door installation, with or without reasonable accommodation.Willingness to comply with applicable background-screening, motor-vehicle-record, and drug-and-alcohol-testing requirements. Preferred QualificationsPrevious garage-door installation or repair experience.Construction, mechanical, maintenance, electrical, or skilled-trade experience.Customer-service or consultative service experience.Volunteer work or meaningful community involvement.Business-development, networking, partnership-development, or referral-building experience.Experience working with property managers, insurance agencies, contractors, real estate professionals, or other industry partners.Experience giving presentations or representing an organization at public events.Social-media posting, photography, video, or consumer-education experience. Business-development and sales experience are preferred qualities, not prerequisites. We are primarily looking for character, mechanical ability, professionalism, strong communication, and the willingness to learn. Professional Standards Because this is a customer-facing position, technicians must arrive clean, well-groomed, appropriately dressed, and free from noticeable smoke, alcohol, or other offensive odors. Smoking or vaping is not permitted while performing work, inside company vehicles, or on customer property. Employees must treat customers, coworkers, vendors, referral partners, and community members with dignity and respect.
