Every day you will utilize your expertise and our advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for various diagnostic tests. To be successful in this role, you will possess a foundational understanding of laboratory procedures, demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, and maintain an eager commitment to continuous learning and professional development.Practices positive patient identification at all times, in all job functionsPractices HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactionsEstablishes and maintains good communication within the department and with other hospital departmentsTakes responsibility for the department workflow, assists all members of the team to maintain department workflow and efficiencyProcesses specimen into the lab, organized for department distribution. Moves processed samples quickly to laboratory departments for testingHandles Laboratory Send-out testing. Processes, organizes, packing lists and packaging for testing sent to external laboratories according to proceduresRequiredHigh School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association within 90 Days of start datePreferredCertificate from Lab Assistant Program within six (6) months of hire or six (6) months experience in an acute care facilityCertificate Other Phlebotomy programIn Central Minnesota you'll find quality health care as near to you as CHI St. Gabriel's Health in Little Falls, part of CommonSpirit Health.
