EEG Specialist - Per Diem

Position Overview A member of Stony Brook Medicine’s EEG team, providing clinical services including routine, portable, and continuous EEG, long‑term video EEG monitoring, and other neurodiagnostic exams, while maintaining laboratory equipment, records, and aiding in technologist education. Responsibilities Perform a wide range of electroencephalograms including routine, portable and continuous EEG. Perform long term video EEG monitoring: setup of patient, review and editing of EEG data and related duties. Perform other electro‑neurodiagnostic examinations. Maintain and inventory laboratory equipment and supplies. Help maintain laboratory and patient records including departmental databases. Archive patient data to DVD or other media. Assist in the guidance of the technologist's continuing education, including directed release and online training. Work with medical staff and technologists to acquire and improve EMG/NCV and/or EP skills. Understand all components of EEG recording for seizure surgery patients, including grid and depth electrodes with appropriate montage design, and assist in data analysis. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or GED. At least 1 year of experience performing EEGs; graduation from an EEG training program or completion of an acceptable EEG module; minimum 5 years of clinical experience as an EEG tech., including pediatric and neonatal experience. Preferred: Academic and/or clinical experience in EEG as well as EMG/NCV and/or Evoked Potentials; experience with epilepsy monitoring equipment and unit; Registration of the American Board of EEG and EP Technologists (ABRET); R.EEG‑T credential.
