Matter Real Estate is a growing, entrepreneurial real estate advisory and project management firm based in Manhattan.

We are on a mission to build a multi-disciplinary team of exceptional professionals—including architects, engineers, and construction managers—to help our clients execute complex real estate projects. We specialize in assisting mission-oriented organizations and property owners to successfully plan and build space that is highly functional and economical.

We are seeking a Project Manager with a strong track record of execution, an ownership mindset, and the ability to independently drive complex projects forward. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where they are expected to take initiative and lead.

Required Education and Experience 

\n

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management and at least five years (preferably five to ten years) of related work experience in New York or the broader Northeast. Previous work experience should demonstrate your ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

\n

\n

The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

\n

\n

Summary of Responsibilities

\n

The Project Manager will work closely with the firm’s Principal and broader team on a diverse portfolio of real estate projects and transactions in New York City. This role requires a high degree of ownership, leadership, and accountability.

\n

\n

The Project Manager will be responsible for independently managing projects from early-stage feasibility through design, construction, and close-out. Responsibilities include leading project execution, managing design and construction processes, serving as a primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, overseeing financial analyses and project budgets, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and successfully.

Detailed Responsibilities

\n

The selected candidate will work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment and is expected to take ownership of projects and key workstreams. While experience across all areas is not required, the ideal candidate brings strong foundational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to proactively solve problems and drive outcomes.

\n

\n

As the Project Manager builds a track record of success, responsibilities will expand to include greater autonomy, leadership of larger and more complex projects, and mentorship of junior team members.

Key responsibilities include:

• Serving as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear, consistent, and professional communication
\n
• Leading feasibility analyses and synthesizing findings into clear, actionable recommendations
\n
• Forming and managing project teams, ensuring alignment across all disciplines
\n
• Managing site searches to identify leasing and acquisition opportunities, including evaluating options and coordinating next steps
\n
• Supporting and coordinating the financing process for selected properties
\n
• Collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and consultants to advance pre-development and design efforts
\n
• Managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables with a strong focus on accountability and execution
\n
• Overseeing construction activities, including site visits, coordination meetings, and quality control
\n
• Driving project momentum through proactive problem-solving, follow-up, and decision-making
\n
• Ensuring successful project close-out, including final documentation and coordination
\n

Additional Information

\n

\n
• Base salary: $100,000 – $130,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
\n
• Quarterly and annual bonuses totaling up to 25% of base salary
\n
