Senior Physician Assistant

Job Summary Under the direction of a supervising physician, the Senior Physician Assistant provides high quality, efficient, team‑based, patient‑focused care. Responsibilities include managing patients in the office, hospital, ED, and/or perioperative setting. The PA may be required to first assist in the OR or perform other department‑specific procedures and may facilitate on‑call responsibilities for the supervising physician. Daily duties vary by department and may require evening or weekend hours. The Senior PA also serves as a mentor to less experienced PAs and brings significant clinical and operational expertise. Essential Responsibilities Practice as part of a team under the direction of a supervising physician. Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical examination, and compile medical data, including history and exam findings. Administer or order diagnostic tests such as imaging studies, EKGs, and laboratory tests, and interpret results. Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management. Perform other department‑specific diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist with continuity of care. Instruct and counsel patients on compliance, growth and development, family planning, emotional problems, and health maintenance. Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges as applicable. First assist in surgeries or perform procedures as applicable. Round on inpatients and perform admission evaluations, documenting findings and reporting deviations. Provide pre‑operative/pre‑procedure education to patients and families. Answer questions regarding surgery or procedures, recovery, and risk modification; provide transfusion information; perform peri‑operative procedures; locate and utilize diagnostic images and tools. Review patient charts for allergies and abnormal findings. Assist in performing surgical procedures per standards of care and practice guidelines. May work as First Assist during surgical procedures, start IVs, and/or perform suturing. Perform post‑operative procedures, enter post‑operative orders, assist physicians in evaluating patients during recovery, review vitals, labs, and diagnostic studies, and help manage patients. Facilitate patient discharge and dictate discharge/transfer summaries in a timely manner. Collaborate with supervising physician, manager, and other department members on performance improvement activities. Qualifications Minimum three (3) years of recent experience as a physician assistant. Graduate from an ARC‑PA accredited physician assistant program. Physician Assistant License (California). Physician Assistant National Certificate required at hire. National Provider Identifier required at hire. Basic Life Support certification. Fluoroscopy permit required, or must be obtained within 18 months for Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, and Radiation Oncology. Experience and competency in specific department tasks may be required. Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment. Advanced certification in a specialty area preferred. Location and Schedule Primary location: Napa, California – Napa Medical Offices. Standard day shift; scheduled weekly hours: 1. Working hours 11:00 AM – 08:30 PM. Workdays: Sunday through Saturday. Call‑in/On‑Call scheduling. No travel required. Onsite work environment. Compensation Pay range: $84.23 – $108.99 per hour.
