Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Externship Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give veterinary students a unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories, perform physical exams, create treatment plans, conduct diagnostics, provide dentistry services, observe and assist or perform surgical procedures, and manage the medical treatment of patients. In addition, externs will have the opportunity to practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Duration & Locations Externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externs may participate at any of the three Eagle Animal Hospital locations: Riverside, Liberty, and Tiffany Springs. Eligibility & Stipend Applicants should be 3rd or 4th year veterinary students currently in the clinical portion of their education. Eligible students may receive a travel/living expense stipend.
