Engineering Technologist

Role summary / purpose

Engineering Technologist II. Provide technical expertise to solve complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Workers are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise
• Ensure accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
• Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches
• Conduct engineering and related studies
• Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
• Maintain accurate records and files
• Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally

Requirements - education & experience

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) from a college or university, OR
• 2 to 4 years of experience with an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), OR
• 5 to 10 years of equivalent experience with no degree

Required skills

• Technical expertise in area of specialty
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
• Experience in the utility industry
• Understanding of basic principles of project management
