About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 Year Required License: Active Compact License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS Must-Have: - Must be open to floating to different campuses. - Weekends required: every other weekend. - Previous charge experience preferred. - Community hospital experience required. - Trauma Level I or II experience preferred. - Travel experience required. Description: All previous permanent employees must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position. First time travelers are not accepted. The typical emergency department patients include adults and pediatrics. Responsibilities include ambulance triage, ED holding, and lobby triage. The department has a total of 40 beds, including 11 hallway beds and 29 beds. Key procedures include breathing treatments, chest tube set-up and care, CPAP/BiPAP, and procedure sedation. Additional responsibilities include rapid sequence intubation and trach care. Skills required include management of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and continuous IV sedation. Experience with interpreting arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias is necessary. The candidate should be capable of working with various patient age groups, including neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily census averages around 115 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. References covering 1 year within the last 3 years are required. Modules are non-billable and must be completed pre-start and annually.
