CNC Machinist

Rosenberg, Texas, US July 2025 Job Purpose The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC equipment to machine a variety of finished and semi‑finished components, tooling, and fixtures. This includes reading and editing G‑code, adjusting tool offsets, and working with automated systems such as CNC lathes, mills, and Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM). The role requires precision, technical skill, and a strong understanding of computer‑controlled machining in a fast‑paced, team‑focused environment. Internal relationships All Manufacturing Staff Directly Reports To Machine Shop Foreman Along with Operations Manager – MFG Main Responsibilities Operate CNC machines in accordance with specifications, drawings, blueprints, and verbal instructions. Perform standard shop calculations related to dimensions, tooling, and part geometry. Use a wide range of precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet dimensional tolerances. Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Maintain a working knowledge of safety protocols and best practices at all times. Collaborate effectively with team members in a production environment. Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman. Individual Quality and Safety Responsibilities Comply with all STATS and/or client quality, safety, and environmental management systems and procedures at all times. Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses, or hazards to your manager or foreman and complete the required documentation. Do not perform any task unless you have been properly trained and authorized to do so - when in doubt, stop and ask. Qualifications Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production documents (such as routers/travelers). Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Mechanical aptitude with the ability to edit G‑code programs. Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills. Self‑motivated with a positive, team‑oriented attitude. Should have, or be willing to obtain, standard personal tools required for the role.

As well as the essential minimum Experience and Qualifications requirements for you joining STATS (as detailed above in this Job Description) the internal training is tailored to complement each individual’s main responsibilities of this role. You will be assigned a skills profile at the time of hire, and this will include the additional training requirements to that of your Experience and Qualifications. The Skills Profile categories for your role are as follows: Critical safety and compliance training STATS induction training Tool and equipment training relevant to your duties Recommended development aligned with your position This ensures all employees receive the support, knowledge, skills and resources needed to succeed in your position. Additional training requirements will be discussed with your line manager and may form part of the CPD process. It is your duty to NOT undertake any tasks unless competent to do so. Please stop and discuss if in any doubt. Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge Competent in the set up and operation of CNC machine tools. Capable of basic programming on machine controls (Heidenhan Controls 530 – 415, MAZATROL, Fanuc or Siemens) Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/specifications etc. Ability to use inspection equipment. Skill in planning methods of machining. Ability to select the correct carbide grade, feeds and speeds for the material specification in operation. Experience in offline programming in software such as Autodesk Fusion or equivalent.
