Job Description

The Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision metal components used in energy, industrial, and field-service applications. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and experience machining parts to tight tolerances. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment and capable of producing high-quality parts with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC lathes, mills, or multi-axis machines, including tooling installation, offsets, and program loading.

• Operate machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and work orders.

• Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain accuracy, surface finish, and dimensional tolerances.

• Perform basic troubleshooting on tooling, feeds, speeds, and machine functions.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

• Verify part dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements before starting production.

• Ensure all finished parts meet customer and internal specifications.

• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.

• Document inspection results and maintain accurate production records.

• Identify non-conforming parts and take corrective action to prevent recurring issues.

Essential Skills

• CNC Machining experience

• Experience with mills and lathes

• Precision machining to tight tolerances

• Blueprint reading

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Manual lathe or manual mill experience

• Programming experience

• Experience with g code

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
