Registered Nurse – SCU/ED Float (ICU)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Special Care Unit (SCU) and float to the Emergency Department (ED) as needed to meet facility staffing requirements
• Perform cardiac monitoring duties including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Manage critically ill patients requiring ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, chest tube care, and ABG interpretation
• Administer and manage complex IV therapy including arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, port access, blood product administration, continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and procedural sedation
• Care for neurologically complex patients including CVA/acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, ICP monitoring, EVDs, lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgery management
• May be placed on call as needed per department requirements; weekend availability expected up to every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (Minnesota license in hand preferred; pending licensure considered if application is initiated at time of offer acceptance)
• ACLS and BCLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in ICU, SCU, or a comparable critical care specialty
• Proficiency with Epic/Excellian electronic health records
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia), chronic/acute renal failure, multi-system organ failure, and GI surgery
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CCRN certification preferred
• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun and external ventricular drain (EVD) management
• Prior travel nursing experience in an acute care or Level 3 trauma setting
