Position Summary The Co‑Occurring Disorder Counselor provides outpatient substance use disorder and mental health treatment to clients with co‑occurring diagnoses. The role is available as a 1099 Independent Contractor or a full‑time W‑2 employee under separate agreements with Lighthouse Behavioral Health Center and Community Wellness Outpatient Mental Health Center. Employment Options 1099 Independent Contractor (Fee‑for‑Service) Provide individual, family, and group counseling as scheduled (5 days a week, approx. 40 hours) Serve clients in community‑based group homes, office locations, or via telehealth (when on‑site) Maintain separate contracts, invoices, and documentation for each organization Complete all required assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in ICANotes before the daily service window ends Adhere to commercial regulations (COMAR, CARF, Medicaid) and evidence‑based clinical models (e.g., MI, CBT, DBT, Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment) Coordinate care with program coordinators, external providers, and crisis services as needed W‑2 Full‑Time Employee (Fee‑for‑Service) Work 4–5 eight‑hour days per week (Monday‑Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM) with possible travel (up to 10%) Meet clinical and documentation deadlines, participate in quality reviews, training, and supervision Maintain professional liability insurance and pass background checks Deliver the same counseling services and documentation as the contractor, but with employee benefits and payroll processing Key Responsibilities Deliver substance‑use and mental‑health focused individual, group, and family counseling Conduct diagnostics, initial and periodic treatment‑plan reviews, and reassessments every six months Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and case coordination with internal and external providers Maintain accurate, timely electronic health record documentation per CARF, Medicaid, and COMAR standards Follow program fidelity guidelines, participate in supervisory reviews, and attend required clinical training and CEUs Adhere to trauma‑informed, person‑centered practices and legal/ethical standards Allocate sessions to each organization per the agreed split; manage appointment scheduling and use of approved treatment curriculum Qualifications & Licensure Requirements Valid Maryland licensure in one of the following disciplines: • LCADC, LGADC, CAC‑AD, CSCAD, ADT • LCPC, LGPC, LCSW‑C, LCSW, LMSW, LBSW, LCMFT, LGMF • Licensed Psychologist, Registered Psychology Associate • CRNP‑PMH, APRN‑PMH, CNS‑PMH, or a Student Intern in a related field Minimum 1–2 years of experience with dual‑diagnosis or high‑acuity populations Proficiency in Medicaid documentation, CARF standards, technology (ICANotes), and trauma‑informed care Strong verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive care Compensation & Benefits Independent Contractor Compensation per service (session, group, or client contact) billed via invoices Payments processed upon receipt of invoices reflecting services delivered each week Contractor responsible for taxes, insurance, and licensing costs W‑2 Full‑Time Employee Annual salary range $50,000–$167,560, adjusted for credentials and experience Benefits: paid time off, health/dental/vision insurance reimbursement, professional development support, retirement savings plan, supplemental disability insurance Regular travel up to 10% of time; exposure to emotional or crisis situations Compliance with safety training, documentation regulations, and quality assurance activities Work Conditions Community‑based offices or hybrid setting; in‑person responsibilities based on client needs Regular walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; regular driving of a motor vehicle Exposure to contagious diseases, potentially dangerous and volatile situations that may result in bodily injury Contact Information Lighthouse Behavioral Health Center: (667) 400‑6206, View email address on click.appcast.io Community Wellness Outpatient Mental Health Center: (667) 309‑9920, View email address on click.appcast.io Equal Opportunity Employer Statement We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
