Job Summary:

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with ECMO experience provides advanced respiratory care to critically ill patients, including the management of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. The RRT/ECMO Specialist collaborates with the multidisciplinary care team to ensure the highest level of patient care and support in high-acuity environments such as ICU, NICU, and CVICU.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy services including ventilator management, airway care, and advanced cardiopulmonary monitoring.
• Manage ECMO patients, including circuit monitoring, troubleshooting, and patient assessment.
• Initiate, maintain, and wean patients from ECMO therapy following physician orders and established protocols.
• Collaborate with ECMO physicians, perfusionists, surgeons, and ICU teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Assist during cannulation and decannulation procedures.
• Monitor and adjust ECMO parameters based on patient condition and clinical goals.
• Maintain and troubleshoot ECMO equipment and associated supplies.
• Document all ECMO-related activities and patient responses accurately in the medical record.
• Provide patient and family education regarding ECMO therapy and respiratory care when appropriate.
• Participate in ECMO training, simulation exercises, and ongoing competency assessments.
• Respond to emergency situations including Code Blue and Rapid Response activations.
• Ensure adherence to infection control policies and safety protocols.

Required Qualifications:

• Current RRT credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Active Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the practicing state.
• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred based on patient population.
• Minimum of 1 year of ECMO experience managing adult and/or pediatric ECMO patients.
• Experience in critical care respiratory therapy (ICU, NICU, CVICU) strongly preferred.

Pay: $2,081.00 - $2,483.57 per week
