Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability Engineer (I&E Reliability Engineer) – Mechanical Reliability Engineer role at Chemours' Titanium Technologies facility in New Johnsonville, Tennessee. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. Responsibilities Provide E&I engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades. Develop knowledge in area‑specific equipment to become a subject matter expert for the review and preparation of maintenance work procedures and skills development/training. Initiate management of change documents to improve the safety, quality, environmental impact, or cost of the production area. Provide technical assistance to develop and implement Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance, Reliability, and PPM programs for the unit. Provide technical expertise for all I&E up to 480 V: Instruments – level, flow, pressure (sensors and valves) – function/operation/reliability support Analyzers (process or ambient air) – function/operation/reliability support Basic Electric (120 VAC to 480 V) – wiring, power panels, heat trace – function/operation/reliability support Motors, starters (MCC) and VFD – up to 480 V – function/operation/reliability support Burner – function/operation/reliability support MOC and capital project support of I&E scope – approver for area MOC with I&E scope Ensure area electrical classification and electrical safety practices are observed in the area assigned. Establish guidance of technician laptops for interfacing with I&E technology. Participate in process hazards analyses and scope development for capital projects. Lead area root‑cause failure analysis teams, kaizen events, and problem‑solving sessions. Prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and equipment specifications. Periodically review preventive maintenance plans and procedures to assure optimum process and frequency of performance. Evaluate vendor proposals and designs and exercise effective judgment around functionality, cost, and timing. Network with site reliability engineers and technicians to support improvement initiatives. Provide shift/weekend coverage for start‑ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds, or other non‑routine needs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. 3+ years of industrial/manufacturing work experience or Military Equivalent Experience (including co‑op or internship experience). Working knowledge of at least two of the following: Instruments (level, flow, pressure) Analyzers Basic Electric 120 VAC – 480 V wiring, power panels, heat trace Motors, starters (MCC), VFD Control valves (if applicable) High degree of personal initiative and flexibility to move projects forward safely and in a timely manner. Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems – making data‑based decisions. Prioritization and management of short‑duration deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities. Comfortable working independently and in a team environment. Clear communication of technical ideas with a diverse team. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence leadership, peers, and technicians; hands‑on approach with operators and technicians to drive change and get results. Proficiency in typical business software such as Microsoft Office. Strong written and oral communication. Willing and able to wear required PPE (steel toes, hard hat, eye protection, respirators). Candidates must be able to perform all duties listed with or without accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working with field personnel in operations troubleshooting activities. Strong background in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA). Strong Process Safety Management (PSM) background. Experience with Probability of Failure (PFD) analysis on Safety Interlock systems. Experience with Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA). Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards (NEC, ISA, etc.). Working knowledge of industry codes and best practices/programs in engineered solutions. Experience with PLC systems. Demonstrated work experience in power systems analysis and applications. Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and automated equipment, and the maintenance programs associated with them. Working knowledge of Systems Applications and Products (SAP).
