Requisition No: 877297 Agency: Department of Health Working Title: COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE - 64086304 1 Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 64086304 Salary: $56,000.00 - $57,824.00 Posting Closing Date: 06/25/2026 Total Compensation Estimator Tool Your Specific Responsibilities This professional nursing position delivers services to clients in Primary Care, Family Planning, STD, HIV, Immunizations, and Pediatrics under the direct supervision of the Community Health Nursing Consultant. The role provides services at outlying satellite clinics as needed and mileage will not be reimbursed. The role must maintain a fundamental working knowledge of the Incident Command System. Nursing Assessment Apply nursing principles and techniques in the care and treatment of clients. Administer prescribed medications ensuring the rights of medication administration. Log out all medications administered. Utilize nursing protocols in the care of clients. Provide client and family education and make appropriate referrals as indicated. Evaluate immunization status and administer immunizations per protocol using correct techniques. Accurately document all services provided. Quality Improvement And Assurance Assist with chart reviews and other QI activities to improve clinic functions and meet the ACHD mission statement and goals. Attend professional meetings to maintain and update nursing skills. Read staff meeting minutes to maintain knowledge of organizational changes. Assist with the orientation of new employees and students. Team Building Assist with orientation of new employees and students. Function as a team member by utilizing effective communication skills, assisting practitioners, and demonstrating leadership skills to support staff. Other Duties May be required to work beyond normal hours or days in the event of an emergency, including Special Needs Shelters, Red Cross Shelters, or other emergency functions. Complete IC 100 and NIMS 700 within three months of initial employment and attend additional training as assigned. Responsible for securing the designated information sets to protect confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access of all information, both confidential and public. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of professional nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques in specialized areas. Knowledge of the theories and concepts of preventive health care. Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of medical equipment (glucometer, blood pressure monitoring devices, thermometer, scale, etc.). Knowledge and application of infection control practices. Knowledge of immunization practices and schedules. Skilled in the application of nursing theory in specialized areas. Skilled in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Skilled in phlebotomy and venipuncture. Skilled in using computer software systems, including MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize workload, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to work independently and with a team. Ability to work with participants having a variety of physical problems and health concerns. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing. Ability to communicate health education to various populations and educational levels. Ability to work under busy circumstances and multi‑task. Ability to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and thoroughness of all work. Must maintain a commitment to protecting the confidentiality of participant and agency information. Qualifications Minimum: Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida statutes. BLS/AED Certified and valid driver's license.
