Billing Specialist
Houston, TX | Onsite – 5 Days per Week

Logistics and Transportation firm is seeking a Senior Billing Specialist to join our growing accounting team in Houston. This position is open due to internal promotion and offers an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, high-performing team supporting a complex, high-volume billing environment.

This role is ideal for someone with 3–5 years of billing experience who enjoys analytical work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to learn a specialized business. Industry experience is not required, but candidates should be motivated to learn the terminal handling industry and its terminology.

About the Role
The Billing Specialist will join a team consisting of an AR Manager and four Billing Specialists. Due to the complexity and volume of billing activity, this role requires strong attention to detail, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to work through highly manual billing processes, as the company currently does not utilize a dedicated billing module.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable navigating complex billing scenarios while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and process high-volume customer invoices accurately and efficiently
• Manage complex billing calculations and manual invoicing processes using Excel
• Review billing data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed
• Partner with internal departments to gather and validate billing information
• Assist in streamlining and improving billing processes and workflows
• Support accounts receivable functions and related reconciliations
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to billing activity
• Learn and understand terminal handling operations and industry-specific terminology
• Collaborate closely with the accounting and operations teams to ensure timely and accurate invoicing

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of billing experience required
• High-volume billing experience strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of basic accounting concepts, including debits and credits
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn
• Business degree is a plus
