Summer Camp RN – ESY Summer Program

Amergis Educational Staffing is partnered with a school in Weston, MA that is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to support a 5 week Summer Camp with an option for an extension!

Position Details

• Location: Weston, MA

• Pay Rate: Up to $52.00/hour, based on experience

• Start Date:Flexible - asap!

• Duration:5-week ESY program + possible extension for NSY

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week

Position Overview

Seeking an RN to work the summer program for about 100 students grades 6-12 located in Weston, MA. Typical general school nursing duties including diabetes care management, med passing and EPI-Pen administration. Some programs in the camp include archery, athletics and boating. Camp ends August 14th. Potential extension into next school year!

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 nursing care for a diabetic student

• Monitor blood glucose levels and manage the student’s insulin pump

• Support and monitor feeding and mealtime assistance as needed

• Ensure the student is able to remain in class as much as possible

• Collaborate with school staff to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment

• Follow all school health plans and medical protocols

Requirements

• Registered Nurse license required

• Experience working with pediatric or school-based populations preferred

• Diabetes and Pediatric Experience Required

The School Registered Nurse oversees the application of the nursing process and the delivery of student care in a school setting. The School RN supports the physical, mental and emotional well-being of students within the school setting. The School RN plays an essential role in promoting the health and safety, responding to medical emergencies, managing chronic conditions and serving as a liaison between families, school staff and healthcare providers. The School RN provides services in accordance with Amergis’ philosophy, standards, policies and physician orders.

Minimum Requirements:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment

• Bachelor's Degree, preferred

• School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract

• One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
