The VP will join this well-established private credit investment firm based just outside Boston, MA. This firm focuses exclusively on the lower middle market, targeting companies with up to $8 million in EBITDA and up to $100 million in revenue. The firm's investment strategy is primarily credit-driven, with approximately 70% of capital deployed in mezzanine debt and 30% in equity. Often the first institutional money in, the team writes meaningful checks and takes board seats to support long-term value creation. While the firm frequently partners with independent sponsors, it also participates in traditional sponsor-backed and standalone mezzanine transactions. The firm is currently investing from Fund IV and actively raising Fund V.

Position Overview

The Vice President will play a key role in all aspects of the investment process, from sourcing and evaluating new opportunities to executing transactions and actively managing portfolio companies. This individual will work closely with senior team members and entrepreneurs, often taking board seats and participating directly in strategic and operational initiatives at the portfolio level. The role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in a small, collaborative team and enjoys wearing multiple hats across the investment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate new investment opportunities, including financial modeling, valuation, and industry research
• Lead due diligence efforts and coordinate with third-party advisors and co-investors
• Draft investment committee materials and present findings to the team
• Support transaction execution, including negotiating term sheets and legal documentation
• Serve as a board observer or representative and engage with management teams on strategic initiatives
• Monitor and report on portfolio company performance, including ongoing financial analysis and risk assessment
• Collaborate with junior team members, contributing to their mentorship and development
• Represent the firm externally with sponsors, advisors, and intermediaries

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of relevant experience, ideally in private credit, private equity, mezzanine investing, investment banking, or leveraged finance
• Demonstrated transaction execution experience and strong investment judgment
• Exceptional financial modeling, analytical, and communication skills
• Proven ability to lead diligence efforts and manage cross-functional deal teams
• Self-starter mentality with a willingness to take on both strategic and tactical work
• Collegial, team-oriented, and comfortable in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
• Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree a plus but not required
