INJECTION MOLDING QUALITY INSPECTOR

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Available Shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 12-hour night shift
Schedule: 3 days on / 2 days off / 2 days on / 3 days off, including weekends
Location: Sumter, SC
Safety Footwear: Steel-toe or composite-toe shoes required
Work Environment: Climate controlled

JOB OVERVIEW

The Injection Molding Quality Inspector works in the injection molding department and reports directly to the Quality Engineer. This position is responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and auditing manufacturing processes and products to ensure compliance with applicable specifications. The Quality Inspector also supports process control, identifies product quality trends, and reports non-conformance issues to Quality and Production Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform complete inspections of products prior to release according to applicable specifications.
• Monitor and audit injection molding processes and finished products for quality and specification compliance.
• Perform various testing procedures and basic statistical analysis.
• Apply appropriate statistical sampling plans.
• Statistically sample or contain products placed on hold according to applicable specification requirements.
• Record inspection results and audit findings using appropriate forms and/or the Quality Module of SAP.
• Identify and report product non-conformance issues to Quality and Production Management.
• Monitor process control systems and identify trends in product quality when applicable.
• Maintain adherence to safety, environmental, and quality system standards.
• Follow all site-required safety and quality policies.
• Perform other quality-related duties as directed by Quality Management or their designate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma required for candidates hired after June 1, 2000; internal transfers are exempt.
• Minimum 6 months of QA experience or relevant QA exposure.
• Ability to navigate a computer in a Windows-based environment.
• Ability to use measurement devices such as:
• • Calipers
  • Go/No-Go gauges
  • Optical comparators
  • Digital force gauges
  • Rules
• Ability to perform basic statistical analysis and follow established sampling procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision of others.
• An assessment may be administered to evaluate proficiency with applicable measurement devices and quality inspection requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• 12-hour night shift position.
• 3-2-2-3 rotating schedule.
• Scheduled hours are 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
• Weekends are included in the rotating schedule.
• Climate-controlled work environment.
• Steel-toe or composite-toe, non-slip footwear is required on the production floor.
• False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and jewelry are not permitted on the production floor.
• Dermal jewelry must be covered while working on the production floor.
