Opportunity: Lighthouse Therapy is looking for a Physical Therapist to work hybrid as a 1099 with California school districts for the 26/27 School Year. What you will need: Master's Degree in Physical Therapy Active California license as a Physical Therapist Reliable internet connection Quiet place to conduct services Ability to build rapport with students Excellent written and verbal communication skills Positive and patient demeanor Preferred: Previous experience providing physical therapy services in an educational setting 2+ years experience working in schools Commitment: Consultation between educational staff and physical therapist. Direct Services 15 minutes per week for 3 students. Willingness to attend IEP meetings In-person training MUST be Tues Aug 11, 2026. Only day available for school team. PT services and evals can be virtual. Caseload Clarification: Q—What if I see students who require more time? What if I need to see a student for 30 minutes twice a week instead of once a week? A—Under Lighthouse Therapy's caseload definition, "a student is a child receiving service for 30 minutes once a week." If you were to have a child receiving service for 30 minutes twice a week, then that child would count as two students. 1. Student Assessment & Evaluation Conduct virtual evaluations to assess students' motor skills, strength, coordination, and mobility. Review students' IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), medical history, and teacher/parent concerns. Determine the need for school-based PT services and develop individualized treatment plans. 2. Therapy & Intervention Provide direct services to students, guiding them through exercises and activities that promote mobility, balance, and coordination. Adapt treatment activities to be engaging and accessible in a school environment. Educate teachers, paraprofessionals, and caregivers on strategies to support students' mobility needs during school activities. Implement assistive technology recommendations for students with physical disabilities. 3. Collaboration with School Teams Work closely with special education teams, teachers, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to support students' educational goals. Attend IEP meetings to discuss student progress and recommend adjustments to therapy plans. Provide training and resources to school staff on positioning, mobility aids, and accessibility accommodations. 4. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate progress notes, session logs, and student evaluations in compliance with school district and state regulations. Contribute to IEP goal-setting and progress reporting. Ensure all services align with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and state telehealth guidelines. 5. Family & Caregiver Involvement Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress. Offer guidance on home exercises and mobility strategies to reinforce therapy goals outside of school. Address parent concerns and provide recommendations for additional support when needed. 6. Professional Development & Ethical Standards Maintain state licensure and certifications required for school-based physical therapy services.
