About the Role
The Company is in search of a VP, Mortgage Risk (Non-QM) to take on a pivotal role in leading the development and maintenance of mortgage credit policy, underwriting guidelines, and risk strategy across a diverse portfolio of lending products. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and refining guidelines for various mortgage products, with a strong focus on Non-QM, home equity, closed-end second, jumbo, and portfolio lending. This leadership position requires a deep understanding of mortgage credit risk, including borrower, collateral, occupancy, income, fraud, and portfolio-related risks, as well as the ability to balance risk, product competitiveness, investor requirements, and portfolio performance. The VP will also be expected to mentor and develop a team of credit policy professionals, act as a player-coach, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the company's mortgage risk strategy is in line with business objectives. Applicants for the VP, Mortgage Risk (Non-QM) role at the company should have a minimum of 15 years' experience in mortgage lending, credit risk, credit policy, underwriting strategy, portfolio risk, or related mortgage functions. A proven track record in developing, implementing, and managing mortgage underwriting guidelines and credit policies is essential, as is strong experience with Non-QM mortgage products. The role demands a leader with the ability to assess and balance risk, profitability, investor requirements, and business objectives, and who has a background in bank portfolio lending, mortgage credit portfolio management, or product risk. The ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach, be adept at problem-solving, and possess strong communication and decision-making skills. Experience in supporting new mortgage product development and launch initiatives, as well as a background in fraud risk, occupancy risk, collateral risk, and geographic concentration risk, is also required.
