Psychiatric Technician Job Details:

Location: Houston, TX 77002

Available Shifts: 12 hour shifts

6:00am - 6:00pm

6:00pm - 6:00am

Starting Pay Rate: $20.00 / Hourly (Based on experience) 

Temporary to hire 

Responsibilities:  

• Monitor patients physical and emotional condition and report changes to medical staff.
• Provide personal care and assistance with daily living activities.
• Observe and document patient behavior, vital signs, and progress.
• Support therapeutic, recreational, and rehabilitation activities.
• Provide emotional support and help patients develop coping and daily living skills.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure patient environment.
• Follow care plans, facility policies, and safety procedures.
• Assist with interventions for patients who may become aggressive or pose a safety risk, according to training and facility procedures.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and appointments as needed.

Education: 

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Postsecondary certificate in Psychiatric/Mental Health Services, Behavioral Health, or a related healthcare field preferred.
• Associate degree in behavioral health or related field preferred.

Job Requirements: 

• Must have 2+ years of current experience.
• Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion, patience, and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Document patient information and follow instructions.
• Must follow all patient safety, confidentiality, and facility policies.
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist or physically support patients as required.
• CPR/BLS certification may be required depending on the facility.
