Telecom Technician - O&M Specialist

PositionOverview

NorthSlopeTelecom,Inc.ishiringaTelecomTechniciantojoinourOperations&Maintenance(O&M)teamsupportingcriticaltelecommunicationsinfrastructureacrosstheNorthSlopeoilfield.Thispositionplaysakeyroleintheongoingoperation,troubleshooting,andmaintenanceofdiversetelecomsystemsacrossremoteandindustrialworksites.

TheselectedcandidatewillberesponsibleforsupportingandmaintainingsystemssuchasVoIP,wirelessaccesspoints,microwaveradiolinks,RFcommunications,andrelatedtelecomsystemsinsupportofoilfieldandindustrialoperations.

Thisisahands-onfieldrolerequiringamotivated,adaptabletechnicianwhoworkswellindependentlyandaspartofasmallteam.Successinthispositionwillrelyheavilyonthecandidate’sabilitytolearn,problem-solve,communicatewellwithothers,andmaintainapositiveandproactiveattitude.

KeyResponsibilities

Operate,maintain,andtroubleshoottelecomsystemsincluding:
VoIPsystems,two-wayradios,microwaveradios.
Wirelessaccesspoints,structuredcabling,switches,androuters.
Telecominfrastructuresupportingremoteoilfieldandindustrialoperations.
Performdiagnostics,replacefailedcomponents,andezecutefield-levelrepairsorconfigurations.
Conductradioprogramming(Motorola,Aviat,etc.)andassistwithmicrowavelinktuningandvalidation.
Performrooftop,manlift,platform,andoccasionallighttowerworkforinspections,repairs,orsystemaccess.
RespondtoO&Mserviceticketswithhighreliabilityandfield-levelproblemsolving.
Maintainaccuratedocumentationincludingsitevisitreports,configurationlogs,redlines,andsitephotos.
Workcloselywithengineers,projectmanagers,andclientpersonneltoresolvefield-leveltechnicalissues.
Followallsafetyprotocols,jobsafetyassessments(JSAs),andNSTIworkprocedures.

Qualifications

5+yearsofexperienceintelecommunications,IT,RFsystems,orstructuredcabling.
FamiliaritywithVLANsandnetworkfundamentals(Layer2vsLayer3concepts,trunkvsaccessports).
Basicrouting/switchingconfigurationconcepts.
WirelessandRFtroubleshooting.
Basicknowledgeofradioprogramming,networktroubleshooting,structuredcabling,andmicrowavesystems.
Abilitytoreadandredlinetelecomdrawings.
Willingnesstotravel,liveonsiteduringrotationalschedules,andworkindependentlyinremoteenvironments.
Strongattentiontodetail,documentationskills,andfollow-through.
MustholdorbeabletoobtainavalidClimbandRescuecertification(lighttowerwork,manlift,rooftopplatformaccessrequired).

PreferredQualifications

ClimbandRescuecertificationalreadyobtained.
Hands-onexperiencewithspectrumanalyzers,Anritsusweepgear,orsimilartestequipment.
Experiencewithfibersplicingandfiberoptictesting.
FamiliaritywithMotorolaorAviatradiosystems.
Prioroilfieldtelecom,O&M,orindustrialfieldexperience.
