Assistant Director of Admissions The Assistant Director of Admissions serves as an experienced admissions professional whose responsibilities include the administration of a recruitment territory from inquiry to enrollment, serving as a member of the core recruitment team, and evaluating applications and documentation. This type of territory management requires leadership, independent thinking, strategic planning, and some budget management. In addition, this position will support the broader work of the enrollment division and its ongoing initiatives and goals by managing essential projects, representing the college virtually, on-campus, and off-campus, collaborating actively with office throughout the college, and seeking out leadership opportunities through regional and national organizations. Essential Functions: Manage a recruitment territory by aligning a strategy plan with divisional goals in collaboration with this position's supervisor, establishing and hitting benchmarks and goals, cultivating and maintaining relationships with prospective students, parents, counselors, independent educational consultants, and alumni/parent volunteers. Represent the college by conducting/attending on-campus, off-campus, or virtual: interviews, information sessions, presentations, forums, receptions, open houses, school visits, and college fairs. Be prepared to travel domestically and/or internationally on behalf of the college 6-8 weeks in the fall and 2-3 weeks in the spring, including nights and weekends. Evaluate admissions files by completing and reviewing candidate applications, making admissions and scholarship recommendations to the committee, and serving on the admissions selection committee. Manage at least two enrollment projects that serve to advance the core mission of the division (ex. student volunteers, programming, and outside partner management). Serve as a key member of at least one internal committee (ex. transfer admissions, athletic recruitment, admissions volunteer network, communications). Hold and seek out leadership roles in regional and national associations for college admissions counseling and other regional admissions associations. Represent the college by taking part in presentations and group travel through these organizations. Employ excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, negotiation, and consensus-building skills. Clearly communicate objectives, challenges, and opportunities in thoughtful, concise narratives. Maintain confidentiality, particularly as it pertains to personally identifiable information. Work well independently and as a member of a team, initiate tasks and projects, and have the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently. Show institutional-level thinking that demonstrates an understanding of Dickinson's mission. Other duties as determined or assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but does not have responsibility for making these decisions. Requirements Bachelor's degree Valid driver's license for the operation of a company-owned, rented or leased vehicle. This position is subject to the Pennsylvania Act 153 Clearance consisting of the Pennsylvania Criminal History Record Information Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Certification, and Federal Criminal History Record Information Check pursuant to Pennsylvania law and Dickinson College policy. Minimum Work Experience 1-3 years Independence of Action Results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carries out work activities independently; supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems.
