Pharmacy Technician (Order Entry Specialist)

Order Entry Specialist (Licensed or Certified Pharmacy Technician) Full-Time | $18–$22 per hour Horizon LTC Pharmacy | Kalamazoo, MI Horizon LTC Pharmacy is seeking a detail-oriented Order Entry Specialist who is a Licensed or Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our growing team. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely medication order processing to support the health and well‑wellness of our long‑term care patients. Position Summary The Order Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering new prescriptions, refills, and patient information into the pharmacy system. This position works closely with healthcare providers, facilities, and internal pharmacy staff to clarify orders, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies. Our Benefits Medical, Vision, & Dental Insurance 401(k) and Matching Employer-Funded Life Insurance Financial Counseling EAP Mental Health EAP Employer-Paid CE Credits PTO and Sick Time Key Responsibilities Accurately input prescription and refill orders into pharmacy software Manage incoming orders and prioritize urgent requests Communicate with providers, clinics, and healthcare staff to clarify prescription details Contact provider offices for refill authorizations Resolve order discrepancies, insurance issues, and billing questions Maintain detailed documentation of orders and communications Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and company policies Provide excellent internal and external customer service Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Active State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred Previous long-term care pharmacy experience preferred Strong data entry and 10-key skills Proficiency with pharmacy software, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail and analytical skills Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality Skills & Competencies Exceptional accuracy in data entry Strong organizational and prioritization skills Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure Professional communication with healthcare providers and team members Problem-solving mindset Work Environment Office-based pharmacy setting Moderate noise level Frequent sitting with repetitive hand use Close attention to detail and computer-based work Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
