Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Summary CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels (CSRH‑NB) is a full-service 94‑private‑bed facility located in downtown New Braunfels. The hospital provides a wide range of services, including an outpatient imaging center, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage, emergency care, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care. The Nurse practices independently in a similar clinical setting, providing routine and complex care with an awareness of all relevant aspects of the situation. The Nurse is responsible for maintaining patient care quality, managing contingencies, delegating appropriately, and supporting the clinical team. Responsibilities Meet expectations of the applicable OneChristus Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Provide nursing care following the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Administer medications and treatments using the appropriate protocol; monitor for side‑effects and effectiveness. Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify resources. Job Requirements Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred). One year of experience in a related nursing specialty (preferred). BLS required. RN License in the state of employment or a compact agreement. Current ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required. All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days and complete required competency validations. All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other orientation; competency completion will be achieved with a preceptor and documented through tracking software. Complete all annual competency verification requirements. All associates must obtain required certifications for their positions within designated time frames per CHRISTUS Health policies. Credential Grace Periods Basic Life Support (BLS) – No grace period; AHA or Red‑Cross accepted at time of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Within 30 days of hire for experienced associates; within 90 days for new graduates. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Within 30 days of hire for experienced associates; within 90 days for new graduates. Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) – Within 60 days of hire for experienced associates; within 18 months for new graduates. Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) – Within 60 days of hire for experienced associates; within 18 months for new graduates. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Within 30 days of hire for experienced associates; within 60 days for new graduates. AWHONN Intermediate FHM – Within 30 days of hire for experienced associates; within 60 days for new graduates. STABLE (Neonatal Education) – Within 30 days of hire for experienced associates; within 60 days for new graduates. Work Schedule
