JOB TITLE: Special Procedures Technologist

Job Summary:
Performs and assists with cardiac and vascular radiographic examinations and interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab. Operates specialized imaging equipment to produce digital and contrast-enhanced images, positions and instructs patients, and supports physicians during procedures.

Education & Experience:

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent education/related experience: Preferred

• Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent: Preferred

• Cath Lab or Special Procedures experience: Preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

• Radiologic Technologist (RT) license in the state of practice: Required

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification: Preferred

• CPR or BLS certification from an approved vendor: Required

• Facility-specific BLS certification: Required

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate diagnostic imaging equipment for cardiac and vascular examinations.

• Position and immobilize patients according to established protocols.

• Assist physicians with specialized and interventional cardiovascular procedures.

• Enter technical factors and operate fluoroscopy, cinefluorography, and contrast injection equipment.

• Monitor patient responses, including blood pressure, cardiac output, and respiration, and alert physicians to changes.

• Provide patients with procedure explanations and discharge instructions.

• Monitor environmental and electrical safety factors.

• Maintain accurate and updated documentation according to program standards.

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
