Role Summary:

Assist in executing daily food preparation at CityGate Grille.

Responsibilities:

• Covers all stations throughout the kitchen as necessary.
• Assist cooks 2, 3 and 4 in the preparation of foods according to guests' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures.
• Trains and supervises Cooks 2, 3 & 4 in the preparation of food.
• Preps food for service in accordance with established standardized recipes.
• Sets up station and ensures that the work area is operated in an efficient manner.
• Follows recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set by the management.
• Restock items as needed throughout the shift.
• Supports all training of other staff members as needed.
• Informs supervisor of any kitchen equipment or machinery that is not working properly.
• Properly stores food in designated containers and areas according to health department guidelines.
• Assists in the cleaning, sanitation and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers and all storage areas.
• Follows all CGG departmental policies and procedures.
• Performs all related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school Diploma or equivalent education.
• Culinary degree or pursuit of degree from a recognized culinary institute; or equivalent experience.

• Five or more years experience as a line cook preferred.
• Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures. Illinois food handlers certificate required.

Skills:

• Must be organized, self-motivated, and proactive.
• Neat and clean appearance.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work nights weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must have a neat and clean appearance and uniform.
