Head Coach

Company Description Kidokinetics is a mission-driven children’s fitness organization focused on improving kids’ well-being through accessible, welcoming, and fun sports and fitness programs. Role Description The Head Coach is a full-time, on-site role based in West Orange, NJ, responsible for leading and delivering Kidokinetics sports and fitness sessions for children of various ages and abilities. Day-to-day tasks include planning engaging lesson plans, setting up and safely managing equipment, and running structured, age-appropriate activities that promote movement, confidence, and fun. The Head Coach will supervise and mentor assistant coaches, ensure consistent program quality, and communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and site partners such as schools and community centers. This role also involves monitoring participant progress, maintaining a safe and inclusive environment, and supporting local outreach to grow program participation. Administrative tasks may include scheduling, attendance tracking, and collaborating with management to improve programming and meet organizational goals. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in youth coaching, sports instruction, and leading group activities for children. Candidates should possess skills in classroom or group management, behavior guidance, and creating inclusive, supportive environments. Candidates should possess skills in communication with children and adults, including clear verbal communication and positive relationship-building. Candidates should possess skills in basic safety practices, risk awareness, and maintaining a clean and organized activity space. Candidates should possess skills in planning and organizing sessions, time management, and adapting activities to different age groups and abilities. Experience working with children in sports, recreation, physical education, or youth programs is highly beneficial. Relevant certifications such as CPR/First Aid and, ideally, youth coaching or physical education credentials are preferred. Ability to be physically active for extended periods, lift and move equipment, and demonstrate exercises and games.
