Senior Data Center Operations Engineer

Salary: $91,400 - 187,000 per year Requirements:

• We own operational responsibility for one or more data center sites, ensuring readiness, performance, and alignment with business goals.
• We analyze trends across capacity, temperature, availability, cleanliness, facility health, and other key operational indicators.
• We monitor data center conditions such as power, cooling, security, and the environment, and drive improvements that reduce risk and strengthen reliability.
• We work with cross-functional and regional teams to refine operational processes using best practices such as Lean and Six Sigma.
• We lead continuous improvement efforts that support site operations, strategic priorities, and customer expectations.
• We guide on-site teams through incident resolution and ensure clear communication throughout execution.
• We handle escalated and complex technical issues, including triage, escalation, resolution tracking, and follow-up.
• We implement and improve automation, scheduling, and monitoring tools to lower operational risk and prevent repeat issues.
• We document issues, processes, and solutions to keep the data center knowledge base accurate and current.
• We create and maintain SOPs, playbooks, runbooks, process guides, incident summaries, root cause reports, and operational best practices.
• We prepare for and execute incident or crisis management procedures in line with business continuity plans when needed.
• We perform root cause analysis after incidents or crises and update documentation with lessons learned and process enhancements.
• We support new region builds, site expansions, and large-scale deployment activities onsite and remotely.
• We act as a key liaison between project teams, data center engineering, and operations to manage schedules, capacity needs, and execution risks.
• We collaborate with project teams to ensure expansion and build activities meet operational, technical, and quality standards.
• We oversee installations, repairs, inventory management, logistics, and related operational activities.
• We direct replacement and upgrade efforts for data center components and infrastructure.
• We advise on major purchases, upgrades, and implementation plans for data center environments.
• We lead planning and execution for rack deployments, installations, and physical network infrastructure changes or upgrades.
• We ensure proactive maintenance of facilities to support efficiency, stability, airflow, containment, pressure, and power train reliability.
• We manage moderately complex projects by coordinating tasks, tracking timelines, monitoring deliverables, and ensuring requirements are met.
• We prioritize, delegate, and adjust work across multiple initiatives while providing technical oversight as needs change.
• We collaborate across teams, regions, and functions to align expectations and deliver shared outcomes.
• We identify and solve moderately complex issues by analyzing operational data, technical inputs, and other available information.
• We escalate unresolved or critical issues with clear assessments, recommended next steps, and possible solutions.
• We stay current on industry trends, tools, and best practices while building our technical and operational knowledge.
• We seek feedback and training to improve performance and mentor junior team members to promote knowledge sharing.
• We develop and support process improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability, and effectiveness.
• We participate in candidate interviews, assess applicants, and provide hiring recommendations to support the talent pipeline.
