NP/PA, Surgical (Cardiology - Inpatient)

**Location:**Dodson Medical Office Building**Department:**Cardiology**Shift:**Varying Shifts (United States of America)**Standard Weekly Hours:**40**Summary:**The NP/PA, Surgical (Cardiology - Inpatient) functions in a collaborative practice with physician(s) in the inpatient setting. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Develops and maintains own volume of patients under the supervision of a physician. Provides practice/clinic/call coverage and may round for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital rounding/consultation, assisting in surgery if appropriate and prescriptive authority.Schedule:10 hour shifts on a rotating scheduleCall is 1 weekend per monthCardiology experience as an advanced practice provider (NP or PA) is highly preferred, however cardiology experience as a Registered Nurse will also be considered.**Education and Experience**Advanced Practice Registered NursesMaster’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred.Physician AssistantsMaster’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies and minimum 1 year of experience in related specialized area strongly preferred.**Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification**Advanced Practice Registered Nurses* Current Texas professional registered nurse license* Current Texas professional advanced practice registered nurse license* Certified as an RNFA preferred* Certified as a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner* Current Basic Life Support (CPR) is required.* Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is required.* **Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery*** **Pediatric nurse practitioner acute care certification required when assigned to Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Pediatric Surgery/Trauma**Physician Assistants* Current Texas professional physician assistant license.* Certified as a PA-C* Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.* Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.* **Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required when assigned to Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Surgery**#CCPN #LI-RV1**About Cook Children’s:**Our not-for-profit organization is comprised of a flagship medical center in Fort Worth, Texas, a new medical center in Prosper, Texas, a physician network, home health company, surgery centers, health plan, health services, and health foundation.
