Job Description Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) supporting plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility for plasma donation. Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable results. Manage donor adverse events according to SOPs. Conduct informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review. Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies per SOPs, including development of standing orders and transport to care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical issues concerning donor safety and eligibility. Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation per occupational health/EHS guidance. Serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or a graduate‑equivalent nursing program with state requirements. Licensed or certified RN, NP, or PA in the state where responsibilities are assigned. Current CPR and AED certification. Fulfil state requirements for basic IV therapy. Complete the FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
