About the Role:

The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials within a warehouse or production environment. This position is responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products in a timely and organized manner to support operational needs. The Material Handler collaborates closely with inventory control, shipping, and receiving teams to maintain accurate stock levels and ensure materials are handled safely and correctly. This role requires attention to detail to verify shipments and maintain proper documentation, contributing to overall supply chain efficiency. Ultimately, the Material Handler helps maintain a smooth production process by ensuring that all materials are available and properly managed throughout the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or material handling environment.
• Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely (certification preferred or willingness to obtain).
• Basic math skills and ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds frequently and stand or walk for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Forklift operator certification.
• Experience with inventory management software or warehouse management systems (WMS).
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and compliance.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or distribution environment.

Responsibilities:

• Receive and unload incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and packing lists.
• Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper labeling and organization for easy retrieval.
• Pick and prepare materials for shipment or production according to work orders and schedules.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate inventory records by updating databases and reporting discrepancies or damages.
• Assist with regular inventory counts and audits to ensure stock accuracy.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize material flow and resolve any logistical issues.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Material Handler to efficiently and safely manage the movement and storage of materials, ensuring accuracy in inventory and timely delivery to production or shipping areas. Operating forklifts and other equipment requires both technical proficiency and adherence to safety standards to prevent accidents and damage. Basic math and reading skills are essential for verifying shipments, understanding work orders, and maintaining accurate records. Preferred skills such as familiarity with inventory software enhance the ability to track materials digitally, improving overall workflow and reducing errors.
