Outside Sales Representative (Product Support Representative / Service Sales)

Position Type: Direct Hire
Location: Baytown, TX
Compensation: $40,000–$50,000 Base Salary (DOE) + Commission, Car Allowance, Laptop, Cell Phone, Fuel Card, Reimbursable Business Expenses

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, results-driven Outside Sales Representative (Product Support Representative / Service Sales Representative) to develop new business and grow existing customer relationships throughout the Baytown market. This is a true outside sales role focused on generating revenue through the sale of equipment service, replacement parts, preventative maintenance programs, and equipment rental solutions.

The ideal candidate is an energetic hunter who enjoys prospecting, building long-term customer relationships, and closing business. Success in this role requires strong business development skills, excellent communication abilities, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to identify customer needs while delivering effective service solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Outside Sales

• Develop new business through cold calling, prospecting, networking, and in-person customer visits.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Schedule and conduct regular sales calls to promote the company's parts, service, and equipment rental offerings.
• Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts while actively pursuing new customers.
• Consistently meet or exceed sales goals through proactive territory management.
• Maintain a healthy sales pipeline through ongoing prospecting and follow-up activities.

Service Sales

• Meet with customers to evaluate equipment service needs and recommend repair solutions.
• Prepare accurate quotations for parts, labor, and repair services.
• Present service proposals and negotiate pricing when appropriate.
• Close service repair opportunities and secure customer approvals.
• Promote preventative maintenance agreements, inspection programs, and value-added service offerings.

Equipment Rental Sales

• Promote the company's rental fleet to existing and prospective customers.
• Identify rental opportunities based on customer operations and project needs.
• Prepare rental quotations and successfully close rental agreements.
• Maintain ongoing communication to identify future rental and equipment support opportunities.

Customer Relationship Management

• Serve as a trusted advisor by providing timely communication and responsive customer support.
• Conduct regular follow-up visits to ensure customer satisfaction and identify additional sales opportunities.
• Develop a thorough understanding of customer operations and equipment fleets.
• Maintain detailed customer activity records within the company's CRM or ERP system.

Sales Coordination

• Work closely with service technicians to understand repair requirements and recommended solutions.
• Coordinate with the parts department to ensure timely availability of required components.
• Communicate repair timelines, service updates, and project status with customers.
• Assist in resolving customer concerns while maintaining strong business relationships.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate quotes, sales documentation, and work orders.
• Maintain complete records of customer interactions, proposals, approvals, and follow-up activities.
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Provide management with regular updates on sales activity, pipeline, and forecasts.

Additional Responsibilities

• Represent the company professionally during customer visits and industry events.
• Stay informed on company products, service offerings, and rental equipment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Experience

• Previous outside sales experience is required.
• Proven experience in business development, prospecting, and closing sales.
• Experience preparing quotations and closing service-related sales transactions.
• Experience promoting and selling equipment rentals is highly preferred.
• Experience in one or more of the following industries is preferred:

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using CRM, ERP, or service management software.
• Basic understanding of equipment diagnostics and repair processes is preferred.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
