We are looking for a Director of Security for our growing team.
This position is located in Sedro-Woolley, Washington State.
Department Summary:
The Director of Security leads Janicki's industrial security and government compliance programs across all sites, with responsibility for classified-program security and export compliance. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Cybersecurity, the director translates government, contractual, and customer requirements into operating practices; leads government inspections and corrective actions; manages security personnel and resources; and advises executive leadership on obligations and risk. The role partners with Cybersecurity, Legal, Contracts, Human Resources, Engineering, Facilities, and Operations to protect program access and support compliant business execution.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The following essential job functions are performed as a Director of Security:
- Lead compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), applicable contract requirements, and customer security direction; establish policies, procedures, records, and accountable owners.
- Oversee facility and personnel clearance processes, classified-information safeguarding, security education, insider-threat activities, and required government reporting; support designated security officials in meeting their responsibilities.
- Oversee security requirements for Special Access Programs (SAPs) and other controlled programs, including access approvals, required documentation, and coordination with program security authorities.
- Serve as senior security liaison with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), other cognizant security authorities, and customers; obtain required approvals and escalate access or compliance issues.
- Lead inspection and audit readiness; maintain evidence of compliance, coordinate government and customer reviews, and track corrective actions through verified closure.
- Lead Janicki's export compliance program under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and applicable Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) requirements; coordinate jurisdiction, classification, authorization, screening, access controls, records, and corrective actions with Legal and business owners.
- Evaluate changes in government, contractual, and customer requirements; translate them into practical operating procedures and employee training in partnership with Contracts, Engineering, Operations, and other business owners.
- Oversee security incident assessment, required reporting, investigations, and corrective actions in coordination with Cybersecurity, Legal, Human Resources, and relevant government or customer authorities.
- Advise executive leadership on compliance risks, program-access impacts, corrective-action deadlines, and resource needs; present clear recommendations and report progress against agreed priorities.
- Lead security managers and specialists; recruit, coach, and develop staff; assign responsibilities and deadlines; and hold owners accountable for compliance results.
- Plan and manage direct and indirect security budgets, staffing, and resources based on compliance obligations, program needs, and risk.
- Oversee physical security standards, assessments, and corrective actions. Coordinate recurring checks through Security Specialists, repairs through Facilities, and assigned site checks through Operations; track deficiencies, owners, deadlines, and closure evidence.
- Partner with Cybersecurity on Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) protection and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements; manage assigned personnel and physical controls and provide compliance evidence.

QUALIFICATIONS
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance are required. Janicki will assist with required clearance processing after employment. The candidate must meet applicable SAP and other government program-access requirements and participate in required continuous vetting.
The candidate must also meet applicable export-control access requirements under ITAR and EAR. The citizenship requirement above is tied to this position's security-clearance requirement.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible industrial security or government security compliance experience, including leadership of classified programs in a cleared government-contractor environment. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated responsibility for government or customer inspections, compliance evidence, and corrective-action closure, with examples of personal accountability and results.
- Working knowledge of NISPOM, DCSA requirements, SAP security, and export-control obligations under ITAR, EAR, and applicable OFAC requirements.
- Experience managing security personnel, budgets, policies, and corrective actions across multiple functions; ability to interpret requirements and brief executive leadership on risks and recommended decisions.
- Experience partnering with cybersecurity teams on CUI protection and CMMC readiness preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
Detailed Wage Information
Wage range for this role is between $140K – 200K, plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
