Rehab Technician - Outpatient - Ochsner Therapy & Wellness - Tchoupitoulas Provide therapeutic modality treatments as assigned under the direct supervision of a licensed physical or occupational therapist. Prepare therapy areas and patients for treatment, maintain all equipment and environment to ensure cleanliness, operability, and safety, and transport patients by use of wheelchairs and stretchers. Perform isolation techniques as outlined in Infection Control policy. Job Duties Prepare and maintain work area for treatment including ordering supplies, linen, and pharmaceuticals. Orient and mentor new staff in the assigned area. Monitor and assist in patient‑care as instructed by the therapist according to their competencies. Assist with generalized office and front desk procedures. Transport patients to and from department or room via wheelchair or stretcher in a safe and courteous manner. Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and communication style. Perform other related duties as required. Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Some college coursework in healthcare sciences. Work Experience Required: None. Preferred: Five years relevant experience or pursuing education in a clinical program. Certifications None. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Ability to travel throughout and between facilities. Physical and Environmental Demands Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires frequent light physical activity, standing, walking, and daily lifting of payloads and equipment. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue, and a risk of exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
