Staff Scientist - Real World Evidence and Data Science

Abbott seeks a Staff Scientist to lead real-world evidence initiatives for its Vascular medical device portfolio. The role involves designing and executing observational studies using large-scale healthcare data sources, providing scientific leadership across regulatory, reimbursement, and market development activities.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute long-term real-world evidence strategies across Abbott Vascular portfolio with cross-functional stakeholders
- Lead design and execution of observational studies using complex healthcare data sources including EHR and claims databases
- Perform hands-on programming and analytic strategy to support real-world evidence studies while ensuring regulatory readiness
- Develop study protocols, regulatory deliverables, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts communicating complex findings
- Mentor scientists on dataset selection, study design, and maintain expertise in coronary and peripheral vascular clinical landscape
Requirements
- Advanced degree in clinical research, epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, or related field
- Expertise in real-world evidence study design and observational research methods
- Proficiency in SQL, R, SAS, Python, or similar programming languages for healthcare data analysis
- Experience working with electronic health records, claims databases, and large healthcare datasets
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and clinical evidence standards in medical devices
- Strong scientific communication skills for regulatory submissions and peer-reviewed publications
